.... Before.........and........After
Like Military Poems? What? Like The Charge of the Light Brigade?
Not even! Just go to that Special Poem Place............
There are a whole bunch of Photos at: "My Life in a Shoebox".......
Its 2010 and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are dragging on. No one has yet been held responsible for plundering the economy or for blowing up the twin towers on 9/11. The acts that have robbed us of our civil rights are still in place, unemployment is still soaring and 45 million Americans are still without access to the health-care system. But it could be worse:
In the Fall of 1974, the revolt against the dictators in Greece was in full swing. The People were rioting in every major city and students had barricaded themselves in the Polytechnic. There was a curfew in force. Anyone caught on the street after 4 P.M. could be and were summarily executed.
Young people risked their lives defying the curfew to hand out information about the revolt. They didn't have the luxury of a copy-shop or even a mimeograph. Their fliers were made by hand. (see above)
Still they persevered and they succeeded. At the eleventh hour, just as the dictators were going ahead with bloody reprisals, a faction within the military revolted and the dictators were arrested and deposed. Within time, Democracy was re-established.
I don't wish for a military coup; but I do wish Americans would get off their complacent asses and take back our Democracy.
Meanwhile, Veterans for Peace Chapter 72 is alive and well. We have done a lot of events that brought us closer together and made us stronger. Click on the URL and check out what we have been doing. I'm especially proud of our work on the Memorial Peace Park; the little park between the Rose Quarter and the Steele Bridge which we (and many others) adopted and planted with a 75-foot in diameter peace sign.
![]() ...so, long story short, it turns out that for the rest of us, the legal term for pre-emptive strike is "Felonious Assault". |
Warning!
History is like a sharp stick: It's in the eye of the beholder. (No wait. Its the other way around.) Anyway, its like a sharp stick: Its real unpleasant to get the pointy end. | |

What I
would do if I were you.
- Take care of your veterans. They're working on another batch right now. -Read as much as you can: From Howard Zinn to Al Franken and all over the Internet; but avoid Ann Coulter. You'd sooner drink anti-freeze. The truth is out there. Go and get it. |
- Support the Green Party. Life on the planet could depend on it. -Question everything, especially authority. |
